Position Summary:
The Regional Director of Sales Development is responsible for leading the sales & marketing teams in an assigned region to develop profitable growth and increase market share by partnering with and developing OIC's dedicated independent agents.
Essential Job Functions:
-Leads Sales & Marketing Directors/Managers and teams to achieve or exceed sales goals; Responsible for the achievement of profit and growth goals through the appointment and development of independent agents in assigned territories; Accountable for the regions production, loss ratio, agency appointments, commissions and agency growth goals
-Formulate sales strategy by applying data/reporting, market knowledge and experience to identify opportunities and develop profit and growth plans; Proactively discovers business opportunities in diverse markets and prepares and positions sales teams to capture those opportunities; Focuses on both short and long term strategic growth potential for territories
-Build industry leading sales teams through strong leadership; Motivate territory Sales Managers and ensure top talent is recruited, retained and developed; Responsible for recruitment, retention, performance management, employee motivation, staff development and talent management within assigned regions
-Oversee strong agency relationships within territories and ensure service excellence standards are upheld; Personally develop consultative relationships with key prospects and top performing agents; Consult with teams to effectively build key accounts
-Partner with underwriting, product, claims, finance, IT, HC and other internal departments to position Mercury strongly in the market, ensure service excellence and maximize sales results in assigned markets
-Partner with IT, product and other internal departments to maximize the data and analytics available to the sales and marketing teams to enhance sales planning and achievement of business results; Continuously improve this key area of focus within the Company and enable strategic decisions utilizing relevant data when possible
-Execute the design of national programs, contests, initiatives or new products with a standardized approach that remains sensitive to the nuances of OIC's regional markets
-Foster and support positive relationships with Mercury’s agency force through direct contact with agents and by influencing regional sales teams with best practices, education and quality initiatives
-Other functions may be assigned
Education:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
• 8+ years experience working in a marketing or sales position within the insurance industry
• 5+ years in a supervisory capacity required
Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Results driven and sales focused
• Proven ability to develop relationships and drive results across various functions
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills to cordially and professionally interact with customers, agents, executive management, direct reports and peers
• Requires independent problem solving and ability to make sound decision - Analytical- understand and interpret data
• Business agility; can pivot and adjust quickly
• Creative and Resourceful
• Ability to craft strategic sales plans, execute effectively and adapt plans based upon changing market conditions
• Proven leadership abilities, a track record in developing personnel and dedication to mentoring team members
• Demonstrated positive and energetic attitude
• Excellent computer skills (ie. Excel and Word); Ability to quickly learn new technology
• Proven ability to successfully develop profitable growth through independent agent partners
